Dr. TIMSIT Jean-François is the Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit in Infectious Diseases University Hospital, – Bichat (APHP). His research interest is focused on Sepsis and antimicrobial therapy, Catheter-related infection, Ventilator-associated pneumonia, Medication errors and Adverse Events, Improvement of quality of care, High quality Database, Prognostic models, mortality, competing risks. His primary research focus is Design and conduct of national and international RCTs and cohort studies. He is also the director of masters and doctoral thesis with 18 Master and 7 PhD thesis in the past 10 years. He is the founder of the OUTCOMEREA research network.
After attending physician medical surgical ICU (St Joseph Hospital Paris France), Dr. Timsit has joined Bichat University Hospital in Paris. He was Professor of Intensive Care Medicine, University Grenoble and the Head of the Medical ICU Until 2013.
Dr. Timsit is active in European Society of intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). He served as Chairman of the infection section of the ESICM. He is the Member ‘Trial group’ ESICM and Member of ‘ESICM Task force on safety and quality’. He is also Chairman of the OutcomeRea Research Network and database and CEO ICUREsearch SA.
He has (co)authored over 340 articles in peer reviewed journals. In addition, Dr. Timsit is Deputy editor of Intensive Care Medicine.
