Inauguration of Annals of Infection
Infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi; the diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another (1). Though growing global collaboration has been made to fight against the infectious diseases like influenza, HIV, malaria and so on, infectious diseases kill many people worldwide and even severe than other single causes. The better management of infectious diseases requires professional knowledge and deeper insights of infectious diseases. However, most medical staff of infectious departments lacks such professional knowledge. As a result, most practices in infectious departments are very poor and lack scientific evidence. With this regard, we hope that a journal focusing on the area of infection could be served as a significant platform to disseminate the current knowledge regarding the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases as well as the vaccine development against infectious diseases and newer approaches to improve treatment outcomes. Therefore, we launch the Annals of Infection (AOI), which is an open access journal publishing articles focusing on the area of infection.
Articles published in AOI cover all aspects of infectious diseases, including but not limited to, etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, microbiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. We hope that the researches published in AOI will help to facilitate the development of innovative strategies for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. AOI welcome original research articles, review articles, case reports, editorials, et al. related to infectious diseases.
We hope that Annals of Infection would be a favorable choice for both authors and readers in the field of infection. We are sure that this could be definitely achieved with the support from our top class scientists in our Editorial Board. We welcome the community to join us on this journey to make this project a successful one!
