Cleaning over clean: impact of a bundle of cleaning actions on health-care associated infections
Abstract
Health-care associated infections (HCAI) are a major threat on patient safety. According to the National and State Healthcare-Associated Infections Progress Report (1), in USA about 1 in 31 hospital patients has at least one HCAI. In 2015, 3% of hospitalized patients had one or more HCAI, and there were an estimated 687,000 HCAIs, with about 72,000 deaths due to HCAIs during their hospitalizations.
